ADHD-Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), previously known as ADD, is one of the most common neuro-behavioral disorders in childhood.  Hyperactivity, impassivity and inattention are the three main manifestation of this disorder. Children with ADHD often find it difficult to focus on the task at hand (i.e. Experience difficulty focusing on subjects at school).  Their attention span, however, may increase substantially when attending to self-chosen task. This means that knowing how to approach children with ADHD as parents can have a great effect on their behavior. ADHD can also affect adults in significant ways.

Often patients with ADHD, complain from the side effects of their medication (including prescription stimulants and amphetamines such as Ritalin and Dexedrine). Naturopathic medicine helps identify some of the modifiable possible attributing factors such as food sensitivities, impaired detoxification and adrenal hormone dysregulation.

During an initial consultation, a complete life history of the patient is obtained to discover which of these factors might be involved in causing the symptoms. Once the root cause is identified, we will work together to get you or your loved ones to feel better sooner.
